Regular Help

Exhibition Volunteer (The Hold)

We have a varied and facsinating exhibition programme which is rooted in our archive which spans 900 years of Suffolk's history. We need volunteers to enhance our exhibitions by volunteers being on hand to give extra detail or explaining the exhibit.

The roles will be on a flexible rota and you won’t be expected to do a full or regular day.

What's involved?

Alongside giving a warm welcome, some of the tasks you could be doing are:

  • Being on hand to answer questions about the exhibit and embellishing the exhibition with extra stories (don't worry, training and/or notes will be provided!).
  • Putting away trails or loose interpretation (if applicable).
  • Caring for the exhibition such as cleaning the glass of the cases.
  • Checking tickets for exhibitions, when appropriate.
  • Letting visitors know what events/exhibitions are on or coming up and where to find more information.
  • Assist with evaluation data collecting and visitor comments.

Please be aware, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you will be asked to complete a health survey. You will be provided with PPE which we expect you to wear to keep yourself, staff, other volunteers and visitors safe. We will also expect you to observe social distancing.

Why get involved?

  • Training will be provided.
  • Delve into and connect visitors with Suffolk's fascinating history.
  • Enjoyment and fulfillment.
  • Lots of interaction with a diverse range of people.
  • Out of pocket expenses which have been agreed with volunteer manager.
