Regular Help

Visitor Welcome Volunteer (The Hold)

We will be welcoming many visitors to The Hold, from students to first time visitors. We're looking for volunteers to support our welcome area and be the first port of call for our visitors.

The roles will be on a flexible rota and you won’t be expected to do a full or regular day.

What's involved?

Working alongside our Archive Assistants you will:

  • Give a warm welcome to all our visitors.
  • Help people find their way around the building.
  • Keep the front desk tidy and leaflets up to date.
  • Check exhibition tickets, when appropriate.
  • Engage visitors with our fixed exhibitions in the welcome space.
  • Let visitors know what events/exhibitions are on or coming up and where to find more information.
  • Collecting feedback and statistical information.

Please be aware, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you will be asked to complete a health survey. You will be provided with PPE which we expect you to wear to keep yourself, staff, other volunteers and visitors safe. We will also expect you to observe social distancing.

Why get involved?

  • Be part of a regular team.
  • Training will be provided.
  • Lots of interaction with a diverse amount of people.
  • Enjoyment and fulfilment.
  • Connect visitors with Suffolk's rich history.
  • Out of pocket expenses which have been agreed with volunteer manager.
